Sciatic Pain:

  • Pinched nerve in the hip

  • Caused by stress on the leg

  • Easily treated without drugs or surgery

Surgery

  • Invasive and extreme

  • Damages the tissue even more

  • Multiple surgeries may be attempted

 PINCHED NERVE

Location of the Sciatic nerve is from the low back, down the back of the leg to the foot.

Most leg pain is caused by tight muscles pinching the Sciatic nerve as it passes under the buttocks and down the leg.

"Sciatica", is a specific type of compression from bulging discs in the spine.  Patients are often diagnosed incorrectly, and told that they have the more serious form of this disease.

Assessment and testing is used to distinguish if you have True Sciatica, or a compression in the leg.

Nerve entrapment in the leg can be very painful, and cause weakness in the muscles of the leg and foot.

 TREATMENT

Invasive treatment involves surgical cuts in hip and injections of anti-inflammatory drugs.  This should only be done when all other options have been tried. See: Inflammation

Effective treatment involves removing the stress from the hip, and letting the body heal itself.

Deep tissue massage and stretching techniques can provide rapid relief.  Avoiding further stress on the hip and leg will allow full recovery.
