RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD Running, cycling, or swimming are types of exercise that put repetitive stress on particular muscles and joints. Muscle balance is critical for faster, more fluid movements, and avoiding injury. Every muscle has a partner, that can help or hinder it's effectiveness.
Unfairly matched, these muscle pairs are usually unbalanced. Quads usually overpower Hams, Pecs are too strong for Traps, etc. Injuries are caused when contracted or overstretched muscles are pulled or pushed just a little too much, and finally tear.
Repair and healing of these damaged areas is helped by removing the unbalanced stress on the area, and bringing in fresh blood so that the tissue can heal. Deep tissue massage, orthopedic techniques, and simple corrective exercises are very effective for these injuries. |
