Rotator cuff and shoulder injury:

  • Pain warns of tissue damage

  • Scar tissue limits movement

  • Dulling pain with medication is a setup for more injury

  • Reversed by treating scar tissue

 SAFETY HARNESS

Highly mobile, our arm and shoulder can move through 360* of motion.

Paying the price for this mobility, our shoulder joint is highly unstable, and easily damaged.

Rotator cuff injuries happen to overworked muscles that are trying to support and protect the neck and shoulder while still allowing free movement.

Freezing up, the shoulder slowly loses it's flexibility.  Scar tissue builds up in the muscles, and the joint becomes more prone to further injury.

Chronic pain -- a long term constant pain, is an indication that the tissue is so damaged that it cannot heal properly.  This is when the patient is stuck in a Pain-Injury-Pain cycle.

Pain medications are often used too freely to dull the warning signs of tissue damage.  Ignoring these warnings can lead to further damage by "over doing it" before the tissue can heal.

 TREATMENT

Assessment is critical to determine where the stress is on the neck and shoulders, and what is the best way to release it.

Deep tissue massage, with friction and stretching is used to release the scar tissue and begin the healing process.

Stretching and posture exercises can quickly help relieve pain, often with a single session.  Posture techniques help prevent pain from coming back.
